On the opposite side of the valley are Shilla Mill Woods, ancient woodlands which are designated as being of outstanding local significance and which are referred to in several of Sir John Betjeman's poems.
The little ancient church of St. Enodoc along the estuary is the setting for
Betjemans last resting place and is an hours walk from Stonechat.
Padstow just half hours drive or one hours walk and water taxi. Port Isaac where
Doc Martin is filmed is a 15 minute drive and has some excellent pubs, beach
bars and fish restaurants as well as takeaways. Wadebridge Leisure Centre 7
miles excellent gym and pool and all sports activities.

Also nearby golf, walking, sailing, fishing and a wealth of good quality attractions and National Trust historic houses and gardens. The Cottage is set in a lane just off Polzeath beach, leading to the medieval Shilla Mill. Beyond the mill there are footpaths to Trebetherick, Trevanger and Roserrow where the golf course/leisure facilities are. Storm and beach watching arbour on decking to view beach in garden which is filled with lots of trees plants shrubs birds and local wildlife which the owners encourage.
